This adidas France shirt, of the style worn at Euro 96, was match-worn at the “Le Tournoi de France” mini-tournament that acted as a dress rehearsal for the 1998 World Cup.
Sported by Pierre Laigle, then of Sampdoria, the article has several hallmarks of a player-issue item, including the match-specific detailing on the crest and the player print on the reverse.
Aesthetically, the 90s stylings include the crest pattern in the jacquard and the lace-up collar, and while the French lost this game one-nil thanks to a late Alan Shearer goal, Les Bleus came out on top at France 98, with this match, in hindsight, an important part of their preparation.
