The SSC Napoli item by Ennerre is the style worn in the 1988-89 season, when El Diego led the south-of-Italy side to the runners up position in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia, as well as inspiring them to their first - and to date only - European triumph, the Uefa Cup Final win over VfB Stuttgart.
Complete as it was with El Pibe de Oro’s white number 10 stitched onto the reverse, and iconic “Mars” sponsor logo, it wouldn’t have come as a surprise to many when the bidding blasted through the £1000-1500 estimate, eventually reaching £3000.
