Neil Webb - most famous for being the 1,000th player to be capped by England - saw out his career in the “Euro 92” European Championship in Sweden in 1992, and this Home shirt was issued to him.

Featuring the famous Three Lions crest and the first use of both front numbers and a name on the reverse for the English in a tournament, another interesting element to the article is the Umbro supplier’s logo having uppercase text - a relatively recent addition to the design famous for its use at the Italia 90 World Cup.

Euro 92 was a disappointment for England and their fans but this item still made £1,700 when sold, slap bang in the middle of the estimate.

This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
