Sheffield United 2018-19 Adidas Home Kit

Sheffield United 2018-19 Adidas Home Kit

Sheffield United Football Club revealed the new home kit by Adidas for the 2018/19 season.

With a continuation of the club's partnership with kit supplier adidas, United also welcome a new front of shirt sponsor, Ramsdens Currency, along with long-standing sponsor DoorDeals continuing their back of shirt sponsorship for a third successive year.

Technical partner, adidas, commented: "Our current design direction for the upcoming season sees us providing a plain reverse shirt treatment for Sheffield United, and our other partner clubs, who have stripes within their identity. In combination with more tailored and bespoke detailing throughout the kit we believe this will allow us to create more standout designs for our clubs in the UK and we're looking forward to seeing the shirts on pitch in 2018/19."

@Miltonthesaintsspringerspaniel If both stripe colours are dark (like Bournemouth, Barcelona or the Milan clubs) then the names and numbers on the back will still be visible. It's when you have dark and light stripes (like Sheffield United) that it becomes an issue.

@Forest Fifer Good point. Plain backed shirts appear unpopular amongst fans of stripe shirted clubs, including Southampton. We are told it is necessary to comply with FIFA directives, but either the directives are being applied inconsistently, or clubs don't understand them. Bournemouth have a striped back Umbro job this year. Don't get it.

"Our current design direction for the upcoming season sees us providing a plain reverse shirt treatment for Sheffield United, and our other partner clubs, who have stripes within their identity"

translated as "we can't be a*s*d designing kits with stripes on the back, so suck it up."

Inoffensive standard adidas template totally ruined by an iron on rectangle housing the sponsor, which looks totally out of place. Shame. As for thr back, I don't mimd it when striped shirts have a blank canvas allowing ease of seeing player name/number.
Are other ways of doing it, ala Juventus 97/98

When I grew up in the 70s and 80s all clubs with stripes seemed to have no problems with numbers on them. s*u*i* FIFA/UEFA making problems over something easily fixed.
