For Switzerland who had lost 7 out of their last 8 meetings against England it was an impressive result. Chapuisat had made his international debut in 1969 and was now an experienced regular who made 34 appearances up until 1979. His surname lived on though through his son Stéphane who would go on to be an even bigger star and a world class striker who won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in the mid 90's.
