Mühren played the full match here of a highly entertaining friendly encounter between two sides out to win. The Dutch took the lead thanks to a great strike from Ruud Gullit after 20 minutes but the hosts eventually found an equaliser midway through the second half as Caldere headed home. The Euro 88 triumph capped a career of remarkable success for Mühren in which at club level he became one of only six players to win all of the international club competitions, with all but the UEFA Cup won with Ajax, that trophy he picked up while at Ipswich Town.
