Fernando joined the club in '81 after a sensational spell with the LA Aztecs where he scored 31 goals in 35 games.
Rowdies picked up the striker in a mid-season trade the year after, quite a coup and the Brazilian continued his goalscoring form helping the side into the Play-Offs. In '82 Fernando bagged 16 goals which earned him the club's MVP award. The Rowdies roster also boasted other star names at this time such as Carlos Babington, Manny Rojas and John Gorman.
