The Holland international helped Johan Cruyff's 'Dream Team' win their third consecutive La Liga title and also picked up the European Super Cup after victory over Werder Bremen. Having starred for his country at the 1990 World Cup he could go on to be selected again for Euro 96 and made 31 appearances in total for the Oranje. This was the first season that Barca wore Kappa manufactured shirts having been with Spanish brand Meyba since 1982. Upon his departure Witschge asked his team mates to sign one of his shirts then wrote their surnames next to their autographs himself.
