After starring at the USA '94 World Cup the defender quickly established himself as a regular at the heart of The Reds defence and held down that position for four years. Babb was marginalised in this season though with Gerard Houllier now in full control and was loan out to Tranmere Rovers before moving on to Portugal with Sporting CP.
