England 1993 player shirt by Umbro believed to have been match worn by Watson at the 1993 World Youth Championships held in Australia.
Watson played in every match at the tournament as the Three Lions reached the Semi Finals and won the third place play-off. Things did not start well when the side struggled to come back from a Watson own goal in the opening match with South Korea, finally finding an equaliser in the 82nd minute through Ian Pearce.
After that USA and Turkey were both dispatched 1-0 to put them in the Quarter Finals where an England team incredibly won a penalty shoot-out, seeing off Mexico 4-3 on spot-kicks. Surprise package Ghana proved too hot to handle though and a dream Final with Brazil in Sydney was not to be. Still, David Burnside's men did beat the hosts to take third place. Many future England internationals were part of this squad, unfortunately Watson himself was not one of them although he did pick up a 'B' cap in '98 and had a long career in the Premier League with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton.
