Brazil did not have Branco on hand to fire in a winner here though and the match ended in a 2-2 draw with van Gastel netting a late penalty for the hosts to equalise Gonçalves' effort after Giovanni had earlier put the visitors ahead. Cafu went on to establish himself as an institution as Brazil right back in a glorious career. He had already won the World Cup in '94 and added another one to his trophy haul in 2002 before bagging countless honours with AC Milan after lifting the Scudetto with Roma also.
