This 18ct gold medal, awarded to the Brazilian player Amarildo Tavares da Silveira, commemorates his team's victory in the 1962 Chile FIFA World Cup. Designed by PEKA, the front of the medal features the FIFA emblem and the word "Victory" in relief, while the back bears the inscription "CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FUTBOL COPA JULES RIMET CHILE 1962".
The medal is hallmarked "PEKA" and "0.750" and weighs 20 grams, measuring 40mm by 22mm. The item is accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Amarildo, dated February 4th, 2010.
On June 17th, 1962, in Santiago, Brazil defeated Czechoslovakia by a score of 3-1. Amarildo Tavares da Silveira stepped in as a replacement for the injured Pele, and went on to score three goals throughout the tournament, including the opening goal in the final, which he scored in the 17th minute.
