This 1983-84 Manchester United Home shirt recently sold for £3400 at auction.
The classic mid-80s adidas design is beautifully decorated with embroidered “Trefoil” logo, crest and “FA. CUP WINNERS, 1983” [sic] detail.
Boasting long sleeves, and consequently neck-to-cuff stripe taping, the item also carries the iconic “SHARP” sponsor wordmark in flock material and a heavily worn number 16 on the reverse.
Despite the lack of specifics regarding usage, the seemingly player-spec substitutes’ shirt was desirable enough to take the bids way beyond its £400-600 estimate.
This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
