Holland player shirt by Adidas believed to have been match worn by Viscaal in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Quarter Final 1st leg against Spain played at La Condomina, Murcia on the 24th February 1988.
Holland had cruised through their group seeing off Bulgaria, West Germany and Luxembourg to take their place in the knockout stage.
Oranje came away with hard-fought win here sneaking a late goal thanks to a Gerrit Plomp penalty when the match appeared to be heading towards a stalemate. The side held their nerve in the home leg to win after extra time but were then stunned by Greece at the Semi Final stage. Viscaal had been a part of the PSV team that won the '87 Eredivisie title and he helped his club retain that and go one better this year by winning the European Cup too and he played the full match in Spain, representing the U-21 team 13 times in total. This classic Adidas design was never used by the KNVB senior team who went from January '87 until November '88 without playing in their away kit. This white kit was intended for the 87-88 season but would not have been the away shirt for Euro '88
