This was only the second time that Samp had competed in Europe and they had already defeated Norrköping, Carl Zeiss Jena and Dinamo Bucharest to reach this stage. But Vujadin Boškov's men had suffered a 2-1 setback in Belgium against the holders and so had it all to do here back on home soil. At half-time it was 0-0, midway through the second half and still it was goalless, it looked like their dream was over and then suddenly three goals in 17 minutes put the Blucerchiati into the Final. Cerezo broke the deadlock, Dossena gave them daylight and then Salsano himself made certain with a cooly taken left foot strike in the 88th minute on a mudbath of a pitch in Genoa. Sampdoria were through to their first ever European final, held in Bern but they would lose out to Spanish giants Barcelona. Salsano made his club debut in 1979 and was still turning out in the famous blue shirt in 1998 albeit with short spells at Empoli, Parma and Roma in between. The following season Samp would get their hands on the trophy with victory over another Belgian team in Anderlecht.

Correct player size print professionally heat pressed, white box printed within the material design not present on replica version, Coppa Italia shield is machine stitched and Kappa logo is embroidered, no club crest on left sleeve, better quality lined material, sleeves have been professionally altered to be short by the kit room, swapped with a Mechelen player and comes from their own personal collection - a signed letter verifying this will be provided.
