This Arsenal shirt, which recently sold for a whopping £26,000 at auction, was worn by pre-war club stalwart and sometime captain Alf Baker.
Not only that, the vintage item was carried by Baker in the 1930 FA Cup Final, which provided the Midlander with his first and only Gunners winner’s medal.
Classic in design, the red shirt was in use just prior to the now Islington-based side’s shift to white sleeves, with the shield crest complete with cannon and club initials.
Estimated to fetch between £15,000 and £20,000, the legitimate rarity soared beyond that and has provided the buyer with an exquisite relic of Arsenal’s iconic Herbert Chapman era.
This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
