While USA ’94 was ultimately a disappointing tournament for reigning champions Germany, this item, advertised as an Andreas “Andy” Brehme shirt, is a beautiful piece of football history from that era.
Recently sold at auction for £500 after being estimated at £400-600, the adidas design is iconically mid-1990s and features Brehme’s number 3 on the reverse (though no name printing, and not on the front, while the shirts at the aforementioned World Cup did).
Brehme, of course, scored the winning goal in the final of the 1990 mundial and therefore holds legendary status amongst fans of Die Mannschaft.
This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
