This football artefact, listed as being a Pelé Santos FC shirt, recently sold at auction for £3600.
Featuring the Brazilian side’s famous black and white stripes - generally a feature of change designs - and the man born Edson Arantes do Nascimento’s famous number 10 on the reverse, the shirt screams its legendary standing.
Believed to be from around 1971, the item’s club crest is present and correct on the chest, a certificate of authenticity provides provenance and an estimate of £1000-1500 being blown out of the water by the bids suggests the historic importance.
This item was sold by Graham Budd Auctions, a specialist in sporting memorabilia.
