Manchester United 1996-1997 player shirt by Umbro believed to have been issued to May for the 1996-97 season.
May was a regular at the heart of the defence in this campaign most often partnering new signing Ronny Johnsen and making 40 appearances in all competitions.
This white away shirt was only used in this one season being worn in 6 matches in all, most notably superb and crucial wins at Highbury and Anfield. United went on to retain their Premier League crown but were frustrated in Europe at the Semi Final stage of the Champions League by Borussia Dortmund. May moved to Old Trafford in 94-95 and this was to be his last season as a first team regular with injuries hampering his career heavily from this point on unfortunately, still, the centre back remained at the club until 2003 and picked up a Champions League winners medal to go alongside his domestic trophy haul.
